PU Ministry Deploys Heavy Equipment to Speed Up the Evacuation of Cisarua Landslide Victims

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) continues to intensify the deployment of heavy equipment across the hall to support the acceleration of emergency handling and evacuation of landslide victims in Cisarua District, West Bandung Regency, West Java Province.

This step was taken to ensure that the search and clean-up process of the landslide material runs optimally in the midst of difficult terrain.

Minister PU Dody Hanggodo stated that he had instructed all stations in West Java to remain on alert and provide maximum support during the emergency handling.

"The main focus at this time is to help emergency handling and evacuation by Basarnas and the joint SAR team by notifying heavy equipment and supporting facilities needed," said Dody, quoted from a written statement, Tuesday, January 27.

As of Monday, January 26, 2026, at 14.00 WIB, a total of eight heavy equipment units have been actively working at the disaster site, including the use of mini excavators which are effectively used in narrow terrain and limited access.

The deployment of equipment was carried out in a coordinated manner through cross-technical office collaboration under the Ministry of PU, including the DKI Jakarta-West Java National Road Implementation Office (BBPJN), the Citarum River Basin Office (BBWS) and the Cimanuk Cisanggarung BBWS.

BBPJN DKI Jakarta-West Java has also deployed six PC 75 excavators to help open the landslide material and the evacuation process. Meanwhile, BBWS Citarum operates one PC 55 mini excavator and BBWS Cimanuk Cisanggarung also adds support with one PC 55 mini excavator at the location.

To control water and mud puddles, the Citarum BBWS also deployed five alcon pumps with a capacity of 16.7 liters per second. Of these, two units have been operating and the other three are in standby condition.

However, two pumps that had been used experienced interference due to the entry of mud and stones, so they needed repairs. As an additional support, one mobile water tank with a capacity of 5,000 liters was prepared to be sent from Indramayu.

Similar support was also provided by BBWS Cimanuk Cisanggarung by sending two additional alcon pumps which are planned to start operating on Tuesday morning, January 27. In addition, one unit of PC 55 mini excavator from Indramayu has been mobilized and is scheduled to start working effectively today.

On the other hand, the West Java Building, Infrastructure and Area Arrangement Office (BPBPK) of the Ministry of PU's Creative Industry also provides clean water and sanitation facilities for refugees. The facilities that have been prepared include three public hydrants with a capacity of 2,000 liters, two 4,000 liter water tanks, seven portable toilets and one emergency shelter tent.

With the support of these facilities and infrastructure, all resources are now focused on accelerating the search for victims and cleaning up the landslide material.

Handling in Cisarua faces a heavy challenge due to the thick mud conditions and limited access, so optimizing the use of mini excavators is the main solution in the field.
