Rocky Gerung Emphasizes that Jokowi's Degree Study Cannot Be Manipulated

JAKARTA - Academician Rocky Gerung emphasized that critical research and studies related to the former 7th President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi) diploma documents cannot be immediately categorized as a criminal act.

According to him, scientific research is an ongoing process and is open to new data.

"All the research takes time and it is impossible to end. If the procedure is not completed and there is new data, yes, research. Where is the sentence?" he told the media at the Polda Metro Jaya, Tuesday, January 27, 2026.

Rocky said the research conducted by Doctors Tifauziah, Rismon Sianipar, and Roy Suryo was part of a scientific procedure. He assessed the public's question about the diploma as the right of citizens in the democratic system.

"Citizens ask the President, 'where is your diploma, original or fake?' It must be answered. The head of state is the servant of the citizens," he said.

On that occasion, Rocky also made a statement regarding the diploma controversy.

"The diploma is original. All diplomas are definitely original. The person in question," he said.

He assessed that the prolonged controversy had an impact on Jokowi's psychological condition.

"Mr. Jokowi has a problem because every day he sees his phone, every time Mr. Jokowi opens his phone, Rizmon's face, tifa's face. That makes him stressed. That's it. Ah, the way to make Mr. Jokowi calm is that he should throw away all his phones," he added.

Rocky emphasized that he was on the path of methodology and scientific logic, not defending certain individuals, and assessing the debate as a logical consequence in a democratic society.

"I just want to show, even show you, I'm in the field of methodology,
