Ship Fire in Muara Baru Port Caused by Engine
JAKARTA - The Tanjung Priok Port Police carried out an investigation into the scene of the crime (TKP) related to the fire of the KM Makin Melimpah ship which occurred at the west pier, Muara Baru port, Penjaringan, North Jakarta on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.
Based on the results of the crime scene investigation, the police confirmed that there were no casualties in the fire incident.
"There were no casualties, the material losses are not yet known. Meanwhile, the reporter reported the incident to the Muara Baru Police Station for further investigation," said the Head of the Tanjung Priok Port Police, AKBP Aris Wibowo when confirmed.
Meanwhile, from the results of the police investigation, it was found that the source of the fire came from the engine room of the ship.
"The fire extinguishing process uses the Mina Antasena Tugboat owned by the Nizam Zachman Ocean Fisheries Port of the Ministry of Marine and Fisheries (KKP) and 20 units of fire trucks," he said.
The Police Chief said that his party had set up a police line at the location of the fire to investigate further.
Meanwhile, one of the crew members named Angga Trihartanto suffered minor injuries to his leg when the fire occurred. The ABK victim has been taken to the hospital for treatment.
"We will carry out further crime scene investigation with Puslabfor regarding the investigation of the origin of the fire (the cause of the fire). We will clarify the owner of the ship and investigate the case," he said.
Previously reported, one unit of a ship that was leaning against the west pier, Muara Baru area, Tuna Street, Penjaringan, North Jakarta, was engulfed in flames on Monday, January 26, 2026, evening.
"The object is a burning ship. We deployed 17 fire trucks," said Kasiop Sudin Gulkarmat North Jakarta and Thousand Islands, Gatot Sulaeman.
