Government Withdraws Rp23 Trillion SAL Funds, BNI Boss: It Has Returned to Bank Indonesia

JAKARTA - The government has withdrawn the Balance of Budget Surplus (SAL) funds placed at PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk amounting to Rp. 23 trillion.

The funds have also been returned to Bank Indonesia.

BNI President Director Putrama Wahju Setiawan explained that the placement of this SAL fund was carried out in two stages.

In the first phase, Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa placed funds of Rp55 trillion.

On December 15, 2025, continued Purnama, the government placed SAL funds of Rp. 25 trillion for the second time. So the total reached Rp. 80 trillion.

"In the second phase, the government withdrew the SAL fund on December 15, 2025, amounting to Rp. 23 trillion. It has been withdrawn, it has returned to Bank Indonesia again," said Putrama at the VI Commission working meeting at the DPR RI Building, Jakarta, Monday, January 26.

Although the government has withdrawn SAL funds, Putrama said the realization of the disbursement of BNI credit from the funds had exceeded the nominal amount set by the government.

"We have disbursed a total of Rp88 trillion from Rp55 trillion of SAL funds placed by the government at BNI," he said.

Putrama said that in the future, BNI will also continue to maintain the loan to deposit ratio (LDR) below 90 percent.

He said the policy was carried out to ensure adequate liquidity availability.

At the same time, continued Putrama, he also prepared financing support for various government programs.

"Keeping LDR below 90 percent is important so that BNI has enough liquidity space to support government programs in the future," said Putrama.
