Coordinating Minister AHY Targets Aceh's Infrastructure to Improve before Ramadan

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) aims to improve the Aceh infrastructure situation before Ramadan which falls in mid-February 2026.

"Hopefully before the holy month of Ramadan, the community, our brothers and sisters can be in better condition, their daily lives," said AHY when opening the "Town Hall Meeting: Acceleration of Transportation Decarbonization" event held at the Office of the Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Monday, January 26.

AHY emphasized that the state was there to ensure that the community was not in a difficult condition for too long.

One of the manifestations of the state's presence is the temporary housing (huntara) which has begun to be occupied by people affected by the flash flood and landslide disasters that hit West Sumatra, North Sumatra, and Aceh in September 2025.

"Three days ago, I just came back after several times of checking directly to the field in Aceh Tamiang. The condition is better than the initial conditions," said AHY.

AHY is committed to ensuring that reconstruction, especially for basic infrastructure such as roads, bridges, clean water support, hospitals, schools, and places of worship, is strictly monitored.

"Of course, we are also still overseeing the rehabilitation and reconstruction of disasters in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra," said AHY.

As previously reported, AHY inaugurated the temporary housing built by the Ministry of PU, in Aceh Tamiang, January 22, as many as 84 units.

AHY said that temporary housing is a basic need for disaster victims in Aceh. He ensured that he would continue to oversee the construction of housing, so that affected people could return to a decent place to live.

AHY made the statement while attending the inauguration of temporary housing (Huntara) built by the PU Ministry on the land of the Aceh Tamiang Regency Government Office Complex with 84 units.

At the direction of President Prabowo Subianto, his party together with the Ministry of Public Works (PU) and others are at the forefront of post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction (RR).
