Persib Officially Signs Ex-PSG, Layvin Kurzawa, with a Half-Season Contract

JAKARTA - Persib Bandung officially added ammunition in the second round of the 2025/2026 Super League. Not to be outdone, the management of Maung Bandung brought in former Paris Saint-Germain player Layvin Kurzawa.

Kurzawa was introduced by Persib after the match against PSBS Biak at the Gelora Bandung Lautan Api Stadium on Sunday, January 25, 2026. In addition to Kurzawa, Maung Bandung also introduced another recruit, namely Dion Markx, who also has the status of an Indonesian U-23 National Team player.

Kurzawa's presence as part of Persib Bandung was actually accompanied by a short contract. He was only contracted for half a season, but there was still an option to extend according to the player's performance.

According to Deputy CEO of PT Persib Bandung Bermartabat, Adhitia Putra Herawan, the recruitment of Kurzawa was a direct recommendation from the coaching team. His experience is considered very needed by Persib to sail the Super League and AFC Champions League Two (Asian Champions League).

"The coaching staff recommends his recruitment to add depth to the squad in the positions he usually plays, namely left back, left wing, and central defender."

"The contract is given until the end of the season with an option to extend according to the evaluation of performance and team needs," said Adhitia, quoted from the Persib website on Monday, January 26, 2021.

Persib is currently looking at the crucial phase of the 16-team AFC Champions League Two. This tournament demands squad depth, calmness in decision-making, and players who are used to playing in big matches.

Management also emphasized that the entire recruitment process had gone through a thorough evaluation, including physical condition and team needs as a whole. Persib assessed Kurzawa as a solution that is relevant to the current situation, not just looking at the past.

"We hope that the player concerned can contribute according to the club's expectations, both in the Super League and in the AFC Champions League Two," said Adhitia.
