Inggris Bentuk Badan Polisi Nasional Mirip FBI AS

JAKARTA - The British government will form a National Police Service (NPS) similar to the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to handle the most serious crimes in England and Wales.

"We will form a new National Police Service - dubbed the 'British FBI' - by deploying world-class talent and cutting-edge technology to track down and arrest dangerous criminals," said Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood, quoted by Sputnik, Monday, January 26.

The new agency will handle the most serious national-level crimes, including terrorism, large-scale fraud, and cross-regional organized crime.

The NPS will combine a number of existing institutions, including the National Crime Agency and the police counter-terrorism unit, the report said.

The head of the new agency will be the most senior police officer in Britain, SkyNews reports.

The government called this step the biggest reform in the law enforcement system since the modern police service was established about 200 years ago.
