DKI DPRD Soroti Roads Damaged After Rain, Ask the Provincial Government to Quickly Repair
JAKARTA - Member of the DKI Jakarta DPRD Ali Lubis highlighted the condition of a number of roads in Jakarta that were damaged and potholed after being hit by heavy rain in recent times. According to him, the damage is not just a matter of infrastructure, but has the potential to endanger the safety of road users.
Ali assessed that potholes, puddles, and asphalt that peeled off often appeared after the rain and often escaped from quick handling. This condition is said to be the most risky for motorcycle riders.
"Every time it rains, many roads are potholed, flooded, and even the asphalt peels off. This is not a trivial matter. We have heard too often that residents fall, have accidents, and even have serious injuries," Ali told reporters, Monday, January 26.
He asked the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government through the relevant service not to wait for viral reports or victims to make improvements. Ali emphasized that handling must be carried out immediately after the damage was detected.
"I ask the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government through the relevant service to move quickly, not waiting for viral reports or victims falling before acting," he explained.
Ali also highlighted the pattern of road repair, which has been considered reactive and patchwork. He assessed that this approach does not solve the problem comprehensively, especially when entering the rainy season.
"Road repairs must be quick, responsive, and comprehensive. Don't wait for there to be a human life. The safety of the people must be the top priority," said Ali.
In addition, Ali asked for an evaluation to be carried out on the quality of road materials, drainage systems, and supervision of work in the field. According to him, repeated damage at the same point is an indicator of underlying problems.
"If every rainy season the damage is repeated at the same point, it means something is wrong. This must be evaluated seriously," he said.
Furthermore, Ali emphasized that the safety and comfort of residents in driving, both day and night, must be the main concern of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.
