The National Police Chief alluded to 'August Gray' when presenting the National Police performance report to the DPR

JAKARTA - The Chief of the Indonesian National Police (Kapolri) General Listyo Sigit Prabowo alluded to 'August Gray' when delivering his institution's performance to the DPR Commission III. It is known that August 2025 was marked by massive demonstrations that killed a number of students to online motorcycle taxi (ojol) drivers.

In the evaluation meeting and the performance plan of the National Police, General Listyo was also accompanied by the Deputy National Police Chief, Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo and all the main officials of the National Police Headquarters as well as the Regional Police Chiefs.

"This shows that we are serious and highly appreciate and value the invitation to today's meeting from Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives," said National Police Chief Listyo, opening his report at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday, January 26.

The National Police Chief said his institution managed to maintain national security stability even though 2025 was a year full of dynamics and challenges, especially regarding security and order in society. Where there are large-scale events to the point of destroying public and private facilities of a number of council members due to public anger after the annual session of the MPR/DPR/DPD RI.

"Although we know that this year is a very difficult year, we face various dynamics that occur in the country, especially, the events of some time ago that we know with the term gray August, which at that time then had an impact on the stability of Kamtibmas, including the events of destruction that occurred against public facilities in the National Police, DPRD and in the local government," said Listyo.

"But thank God for the hard work of all members and the support of all elements of the nation at that time, in a short time the situation can be immediately controlled, and at this time we ask for permission to report that the stability of national Kamtibmas in 2025 is in a safe and conducive state," he continued.

According to Listyo, this achievement is the result of the performance of the National Police which is supported by the central government and all regional governments, as well as the leadership of the DPR and council members. "And also all components and elements of the nation, so that the National Police can carry out its main tasks in maintaining kamtibmas stability, enforcing the law and providing protection to the community," he said.

Listyo added, based on the Global Safety Report which conducted a survey on September 18, 2025 after the events that occurred in August-September, Indonesia was among the 25 safest countries in the world.

"Alhamdulillah, when the respondents were asked about whether they felt safe walking at night or self to walk alone at night 83, the respondents felt safe, meaning that Indonesia's position is ranked 25 out of 144 countries," said Listyo.

"Kompas Research and Development also released in November 2025 from the survey that the National Police became one of the most trusted state institutions and was in third place and became the most trusted law enforcement agency in the 1st rank," he concluded.
