7 Young People Missing in Hulu Sungai Rangeh Found Safe
LUBUK BASUNG - A joint SAR team managed to evacuate seven young people who were missing when they saw the upstream of the Rangeh River, the location of flash floods in Labuah, Nagari Sungai Batang, Tanjung Raya District, Agam Regency, West Sumatra, in a safe condition, Monday, January 26, early morning.
Basarnas Padang Field Coordinator Atta Priyono said the joint SAR Team came from Basarnas, TNI, Polri, PMI and the community.
"There are dozens of people involved in the search for seven missing youths and the evacuation process was carried out at night," said Atta, quoted by Antara, Monday morning.
He said the seven young people were on behalf of Fahri, Fakhri, Rifal, Bima, Andika, Farel, and Romi. They were reported missing since Sunday (25/1) afternoon.
The victim was found in a safe condition and only suffered from fatigue.
"Evacuating the victims using lighting equipment from the location to the settlement," he said.
He said the victim went to see the upstream location of the Rangeh River, which was also the location of flash floods that hit the area at the end of November 2025.
When they were about to go home, they did not find the road or forgot the direction, so the victim wandered around in the forest.
The victim tried to contact the family using his cellphone and asked to make a bonfire so that it could be seen by the joint SAR Team.
"The joint SAR team found the source of the fire which was made by the victim at a distance of 1.1 kilometers," he said.
After that, the joint SAR team searched for the whereabouts of the victim and was found.
