Nearly 500 Thousand Customers, Brantas KA Show Positive Trends Throughout 2025

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) recorded 488,998 customers using the Brantas train throughout 2025.

KAI Corporate Communication Vice President Anne Purba said this figure showed the consistency of public demand for long-distance train services connecting the western, central, and eastern regions of Java through the Senen-Semarang-Blitar Market relationship (pp).

Anne added that the performance of the Brantas train reflects the public's need for scheduled, affordable, and accessible mass transportation to regional economic and tourism activity centers.

"KA Brantas serves long routes with diverse passenger characteristics. The improvement of facilities since October 2024 further supports the comfort of consistent long-distance travel," he said in a statement, Sunday, January 25.

Since October 17, 2024, KA Brantas uses a Modified New Generation economy train with a more ergonomic layout, better lighting, and an interior that supports cross-provincial travel.

He said this update was in line with the pattern of Brantas train customer travel that crossed many cities in one trip and from the region, the Brantas train track is in an area with high population mobility.

Meanwhile, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) in the publication "Central Java Province in Figures 2024" noted that the Pantura area of Central Java, such as Cirebon, Tegal, Pekalongan, and Semarang, is a center for trade, services, and processing industries that form an active flow of intercity population movement.

Meanwhile, in East Java, cities that are traversed by the Brantas train, such as Madiun, Kediri, Tulungagung, and Blitar, are recorded in the East Java Provincial Tourism Statistics 2024 as areas with strong domestic population movements and developing regional economic activities.

According to him, direct connectivity with Jakarta and Central Java accelerates people's mobility for work, family, and social interests.

He said the Brantas train track also has a connection with the development of the Batang Integrated Industrial Area in Central Java.

Based on the Central Java BPS 2024, this area is developing as a new manufacturing center that absorbs cross-regional labor.

Anne said that stations in the Pekalongan and Tegal regions are within the radius of the region's affordability, so the Brantas train line supports the mobility of workers and supporting industrial activities in the Pantura corridor.

In terms of tourism, he added that the Brantas train line opened access to various flagship destinations such as Semarang which serves as a tourist hub for Central Java's history and cuisine, while Kediri and Blitar are known as natural, religious, and historical tourist areas in East Java.

Based on BPS through Domestic Tourism Statistics 2024, it was noted that the movement of domestic tourists is still dominated by domestic inter-regional movements, so that rail transport becomes a relevant mode to support land tourism mobility.

Anne said that by serving almost half a million customers throughout 2025, KA Brantas has contributed to facilitating the mobility of residents, strengthening regional connectivity, and encouraging economic circulation in the cities it passes through.

"KAI continues to maintain train services to be in line with community needs and regional dynamics through strengthening connectivity and travel comfort," he concluded.
