DKI Provincial Government Builds 466 Meter JPO to Connect JIS and Ancol, Target Completed May 2026

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung attended the signing of a cooperation agreement for the construction of the Orang Crossing Bridge (JPO) which connects the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) with the Impian Jaya Ancol Park area, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta. Pramono was present with Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Rano Karno.

The signing of the agreement was carried out by the Regional Secretary of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, Uus Kuswanto, the President Director of PT Jakarta Propertindo (Perseroda) Iwan Takwim, and the President Director of PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk Nixon Napitupulu. The development of JPO is part of cross-sector cooperation between the local government, BUMD, and SOEs.

Pramono targets the completion of the JPO construction in May 2026 and its use by the community in June.

"This construction is expected to be completed in May, so that in June we can use it as a comprehensive activity," said Pramono, Sunday, January 25.

According to Pramono, the construction of the JPO is an effort by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to increase inter-regional connectivity, especially between JIS and Ancol, which have been separated by road and rail infrastructure.

"Since the beginning I knew about this plan, I immediately wanted to connect the JIS area with Ancol. The biggest challenge is the sectoral ego. In fact, if you look at the field, the problem is not too difficult. Alhamdulillah, after talking to Ancol, BTN, and Jakpro, we finally met and realized it," he said.

The JPO has a length of 466 meters and was officially named JPO Bersama BTN. Pramono said the naming was a symbol of collaboration between parties involved in construction.

Pramono assessed that the existence of JPO will strengthen the image of the JIS-Ancol area as a center for sports, entertainment, and tourism activities in North Jakarta.

"I really believe that this area will become one of Jakarta's icons. In the future, this area will not only be a sports center, but also a lively public space with various activities, ranging from sports, culture, to large concerts," he explained.

In addition to connecting two strategic areas, this JPO will also be integrated with the development of public transportation in the surrounding area. Pramono said the construction of the Electric Train (KRL) in the area was targeted to be completed in April.

"With the connection of KRL transportation, Transjakarta, and parking area support in Ancol, people will find it easier to access JIS and Ancol. This will greatly support various major agendas in Jakarta, including the celebration of Jakarta's 500th anniversary next year," added Pramono.

Pramono encouraged that the JIS and Ancol areas in the future will be more actively used for various activities, ranging from sports, recreation, to international-scale concerts.

"In terms of transportation and accessibility, this area is very promising. In the future, JIS and Ancol must really become a living area and provide the greatest benefit to the community," he added.
