Due to the Last Minute Goal, Liverpool Loses to Bournemouth

JAKARTA - Liverpool fell because of Amine Adli's goal in the last minute. In the English Premier League duel against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium, Sunday, January 25, 2026 WIB, Liverpool was forced to surrender 3-2.

Liverpool failed to show their best performance when visiting Bournemouth's home. They had a bad start and were immediately behind by two goals in less than 35 minutes.

Fortunately, Liverpool was still able to catch up. It's just that the delay in injury time made Allison's goal which ended in defeat.

This is Liverpool's first defeat in the domestic competition since November 2025. At that time, The Reds had to admit Nottingham Forest's 3-0 advantage. Since then, Arne Slot's team has never lost in the last 10 matches. Only, they often get a draw. Liverpool has been recorded six times to draw so they lose the opportunity to keep up with Arsenal and Manchester City.

Not stopping there, the defeat of Bournemouth makes Liverpool threatened to go out of the Champions League zone. Currently, the defending champion has 36 points. The same as Manchester United who lost by goal difference so that Liverpool still survives in fourth place. However, if Man Utd is able to steal points at the Emirates when facing Arsenal in the big match of the Premier League, then Liverpool will definitely be thrown out of the top four.

Not only Man Utd, but also Chelsea who ranked sixth must also be wary of The Pool. The reason is, Chelsea is only two points behind so they need a win when facing host Crystal Palace in the London Derby to displace Liverpool.

Meanwhile, Bournemouth itself reaped the benefits with an additional three points because it was able to improve its ranking. Now, Andoni Iraola's team has managed to get away from the relegation zone and climbed to 13th place with 30 points. The same as Brighton and Hove Albion, but The Cherries lost by a goal difference.

In the duel, Liverpool, who was back strengthened by Mohamed Salah, actually appeared with strong confidence. The 3-0 victory over Marseille in the Champions League became a strong capital to deal with Bournemouth.

Even they were able to dominate the game by creating a number of opportunities. The question is, Bournemouth who has been abandoned by Antoine Semenyo who moved to Man City played more effectively and efficiently.

Proven, the hosts managed to break through Alisson's goal through Evanilson in the 26th minute. The goal started from the mistake of captain Virgil van Dijk who thought the ball was a pass from Bournemouth defender Marco Senesi was over the line. However, Alex Scott was able to control the ball and had not crossed the line so he could pass the ball to Evanilson. Without difficulty he who was not guarded fired a hard shot that broke Liverpool's goal.

Leading 1-0, Bournemouth still played calmly and efficiently. On the other hand, Liverpool tried to put pressure. However, Liverpool had to lose center back Joe Gomez who was injured.

In a 10-man playing position because Wataru Endo who replaced Gomez is still waiting for the order to enter the field, Bournemouth managed to take advantage of the situation to add a goal.

An efficient and clever play when Alex Jimenez received a breakthrough pass and then brought the ball. The defender Milos Kerkez apparently was left behind in the sprint so he failed to control Jimenez who fired a shot to the right corner of the goal without being reached by Alisson.

Liverpool refused to give up even though they were 2-0 down. They tried to put pressure on the home team's defense. Liverpool's efforts finally bore fruit towards the end of the first half.

van Dijk paid for his mistake by breaking the deadlock when he received a corner from Dominik Szoboszlai. His header successfully broke the Bournemouth goal and changed the score to 2-1.

The goal was like raising the adrenaline of the Liverpool players. In the second half, they played more aggressively and showed their dominance. However, Liverpool had to wait until the second half or towards the end of the match to equalize the score.

This time Szoboszlai managed to break Bournemouth's goal in the 80th minute. Through a collaboration with Cody Gakpo when he got a free kick outside the penalty box, Szoboszlai managed to defeat goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic who was late reaching the ball. The goal in the 80th minute changed the score to 2-2.

After the goal, Liverpool completely dominated the game and almost turned the tide when goalkeeper Petrovic made a brilliant save that thwarted a chance from Florian Wirtz.

When the match was expected to be a draw, Adli made a surprise by breaking Liverpool's goal in the 90+5 minute. Starting from a long pass that created a mess in front of Liverpool's goal, Adli managed to execute it and bring Bournemouth to end the match with a score of 3-2.
