1.500 Isolated Residents Impacted by Bridge in Situbondo Broken by Flash Flood
Situbondo - Bupati Situbondo Yusuf Rio Wahyu Prayogo menyebut jembatan yang menghubungkan antara Desa Patemon dan Desa Wringinanom, Kecamatan Jatibanteng, terputus diterjang banjir bandang dan sekitar 1.500 warga terisolasi.
"Here there are about 1,500 people who can't go anywhere because they are completely isolated, the condition is very worrying and must be dealt with immediately," he said when reviewing the broken bridge in Wringinanom Village, Jatibanteng District, Situbondo, on Saturday, quoted by Antara.
According to the Regent of Rio, the main access of residents between Patemon Village and Wringinanom was cut off due to flash floods on Wednesday, January 21, which had an impact on the distribution of assistance and basic services, but he ensured that the local government would continue to distribute assistance, even with various limitations.
For the initial phase, he continued, the government distributed logistical assistance in the form of basic necessities to meet the basic needs of residents in the short-term handling.
As for long-term handling, said Rio, the local government plans to budget for infrastructure improvements, especially the reconstruction of bridges and connecting roads.
"We will ask for help from the provincial and central governments so that this handling can be implemented immediately, because without bridges and roads, the area has no access at all," said the Regent of Rio.
He added that restoring access was an urgent need so that people's activities could return to normal and the humanitarian social risk did not get worse.
From observation, the Regent of Rio directly reviewed the location by following the river because there was no longer a land route that could be passed, all the bridges looked broken, while the road was destroyed and could not be passed by vehicles or pedestrians.
