Google Chrome Will Stop Support for macOS Monterey in July 2026

Google says Chrome will stop supporting macOS 12 or Monterey in July 2026. This decision forces old Mac users to update their firmware.

Chrome version 150 will be the last series that can still operate on macOS Monterey. If users still want to use Chrome on Mac, they must use macOS 13 Ventura or newer.

Although Chrome will not stop functioning immediately, users on the old system will no longer receive feature updates. Users will also lose protection from the latest security updates in the future.

This policy will take effect after ChromeOS 151 is released on July 28, 2026. Google encourages its users to switch to a newer version of macOS before that date.

"You need to make sure your device is running macOS 13 or later to continue to receive future Chrome releases," Google said in its official blog, quoted on Saturday, January 24, 2026.

MacOS 12 Monterey was first launched by Apple in October 2021. If your Mac device does not support an update to macOS Ventura, then the risk of digital security will increase.

Google said that the final July release date is still flexible and can change at any time. However, the certainty of this support termination will still run in the coming months.
