Government Continues to Speed Up Huntara Development in West Sumatra

JAKARTA - The government, with the assistance of personnel from Kodam XX/Tuanku Imam Bonjol, continues to rush to build temporary housing (huntara) for people affected by natural disasters in West Sumatra (Sumbar).

Quoted from the statement of the Presidential Media Team received in Jakarta, Saturday, the construction of the huntara was carried out simultaneously in eight locations.

A number of units at several points have entered the completion stage and are ready to be inhabited. Structural work, wall installation, to cleaning the area is accelerated.

The huntara development points that are currently being worked on are in Jorong Kayu Pasak Nagari Salareh Aia, Palembayan District, Agam Regency; Nagari Koto Tinggi, Gunung Omeh District, Lima Puluh Kota Regency; and Nagari Anduring, 2x11 Kayu Tanam District, Padang Pariaman Regency.

Then in Puluik-Puluik Village, North Bayang District, South Coast Regency; Bungo Village, Batipuh District, Tanah Datar Regency; Kapalo Koto, Pauh District, Padang City; Katapiang Village, Batang Anai District, Padang Pariaman Regency; and Jorong Kubu Gadang, South Batipuh District, Tanah Datar Regency.

Based on field monitoring, construction activities include the installation of building components, the completion of door and window parts, the arrangement of the area around the unit, and the framing and roofing at a number of points.

In some locations, the huntara buildings appear to have stood intact and entered the final stage of completion, so that some units are ready to be inhabited.

Kodam XX/Tuanku Imam Bonjol emphasized the acceleration of this huntara development in order to ensure that refugees immediately obtain a decent, safe temporary shelter. Residents are expected to be able to immediately carry out normal activities after the disaster.
