Police Arrest Perpetrator of Child Sexual Abuse in Tangerang

JAKARTA - The Women and Children Protection Unit (PPA) of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the South Tangerang Police, Polda Metro Jaya, arrested the perpetrator of the case of sexual intercourse and molestation of minors.

"We have secured a suspect with the initials OF (19)," said Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit (Kasat Reskrim) of the South Tangerang Police, AKP Wira Graha Setiawan, in his statement in Jakarta, Saturday.

He said that the suspect had known the victim since 2019 when the two were still sitting on the junior high school bench. The act took place in August 2025 at one of the apartments in the Cisauk area, Tangerang Regency, Banten.

Wira explained that at the time of the incident, the suspect picked up the victim while he was undergoing field work practice (PKL), then took him to one of the apartments.

"The suspect committed sexual abuse against the victim in the Cisauk area," he said.

Meanwhile, Head of Public Relations of the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Police Budi Hermanto, emphasized the commitment of the National Police in enforcing the law against sexual crimes against children.

The suspect was charged with Article 81 paragraph (2) of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 17 of 2016 and/or Article 417 of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code and/or Article 6 of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 12 of 2022 concerning Sexual Violence Crimes (TPKS).

With a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison. The police appeal to the public to report through the 110 service if they experience a criminal offense.
