Flooded House, Hundreds of Bidara Cina Residents Evacuated to 3 Locations

Hundreds of Bidara Cina residents, Jatinegara, began evacuating to three locations that had been prepared by the village and East Jakarta City Government due to the increasingly high flood.

"Because this flood is getting higher so residents have started evacuating since Friday (23/1) night. Evacuation is focused on three locations," said Bidara Cina Village Head, Suhartono at the flood site, Bidara Cina, East Jakarta, Saturday, January 24.

The evacuation is focused on three locations, namely GOR Otista, SKKT Building, Bidara Cinadan Village, and RPTRA Permata Intan.

Apart from these three locations, some residents also fled independently to the Jami Al Abror Mosque not far from the flood site.

Based on provisional data, the flood affected the RW 7 and RW 11 areas with a total of 510 families (KK) or 1,356 people.

Of that number, 50 households with 162 people were recorded as having evacuated to a safe place.

Observations in the field showed that the highest water level was in the Gang Macan area, which reached 180 centimeters (cm) at 10.00 WIB.

The flood conditions were triggered by the high discharge of the water supply, while the Alert 3 status is still in effect in Katulampa, Manggarai and Depok, until the overflow of the Ciliwung River.

The government, starting from the village level, together with the TNI and Polri, continues to appeal to residents to increase vigilance.

The apparatus also asked vulnerable groups such as the elderly and toddlers to immediately evacuate in order to avoid safety risks.

Humanitarian assistance has begun to be distributed to affected residents. The Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) has provided initial assistance, while the East Jakarta Social Service Tribe is still in the process of distributing further assistance.

Jatinegara Police Chief Kompol Samsono appealed to residents to remain on alert at the post or evacuation location so that the conditions are safer.

"It is good to evacuate to the location that has been provided so that everything is okay," he said.

Previously, heavy rain that hit the DKI Jakarta area and its surroundings on Thursday (22/1) caused several puddles in the DKI Jakarta area. BPBD recorded that currently there are 81 RT and 15 roads flooded.
