KDM Reveals the Dilemmas of Illegal Miners Who Died in Bogor
JAKARTA - West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi revealed that there was a dilemma for dozens of illegal miners who died in a mine hole in Bogor Regency this week. Where they are heroes for their families, even though their activities are illegal and high-risk.
The statement followed the tragedy of the death of 11 miners outside Antam's operational area in the past week.
Governor Dedi Mulyadi emphasized that the step of stopping the operation of mines in Parung Panjang, Cigudeg, and Rumpin is currently a dead price to break the chain of repeated work accidents.
"From a personal perspective, the deceased is a hero for his family because the miners entered a hole that was risky, maybe the only option to comfort himself," said Governor Dedi Mulyadi, quoted by Antara.
Although mining operations have been stopped, Dedi Mulyadi revealed a major obstacle in distributing solutions and compensation for affected residents. He admitted that the government had difficulty obtaining valid data for verification, because of the strong involvement of individuals and residents in the mining ecosystem.
"Why (the data is protracted)? Because almost all of them are players. We ask for data from A, it turns out that A is a player, that's it. It's hard. Well, this is what I'm looking for a way out so that it doesn't drag on," he said.
He emphasized that the mining case in Bogor could no longer be handled with the old pattern which was only reactive after the accident. According to him, Bogor's excellent economic growth and investment should be an opportunity to shift the profession of residents through the link and match scheme.
As a short-term solution for residents who lost their livelihoods due to the closure of the mine, Dedi Mulyadi admitted that he had offered a number of job options that had been discussed with the Bogor Regent.
Productive to advanced age residents are offered to fill positions for labor in the public service sector.
"I have made an offer. The elderly are working as PSDA (Water Resources Management) workers, PU (Public Works), so the cleaners, the drivers are working," said Governor Dedi Mulyadi.
He hopes that the next generation in the West Bogor area will no longer depend on their fate under the ruins of the mine hole.
Dedi Mulyadi is committed to developing a safer economic plan by utilizing the flow of investment that enters Bogor Regency.
"We must encourage the next generation to have other solutions. The investment is good, now the link and match must be immediately arranged. It can't be like this all the time," he said.
