Ministry of Transportation: Jogja-Bawen Toll Section 6 Reduces Traffic Load for Eid Homecoming

JAKARTA - Director General of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation Aan Suhanan said the Yogyakarta-Bawen Toll Road Section 6 and the Prambanan-Purwomartani Toll Road Solo-Yogyakarta will reduce the burden of toll traffic and arterial traffic on the homecoming and return traffic of Lebaran 2026.

"By functionalizing this toll road, it will greatly help people who will travel during the Lebaran homecoming and return flow," said Aan when reviewing the two toll roads, as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, January 24.

He said the functional opening of these two toll roads was a good thing and very helpful because the flow load on the Solo-Semarang Toll Road was very dense. If the two toll roads are functionalized, they will provide alternatives for people who will go to Magelang, Temanggung and those from Solo to Yogyakarta.

In addition to ensuring the aspect of smooth flow during Lebaran transportation, Aan said safety was still the main priority before the two toll roads were functionalized.

He explained that there must be clear signs, mature traffic arrangements, to adequate lighting.

"Of course, with the implementation of the functional side, we still want to ensure that the facilities and infrastructure are ready. This means that the main safety element and we will not operationalize functionally if the minimum safety standards of the road are not met," he said.

The Ministry of Transportation is optimistic that this year's Lebaran transportation can run well, especially with the functionalization of the new Yogyakarta-Bawen and Solo-Yogyakarta toll roads to support the smooth mobility of the community.

"With the synergy between the Ministry of Transportation, Korlantas, Jasa Marga, and Jasa Raharja, we hope that the implementation of the Lebaran homecoming can run more safely, smoothly, and safely," said Aan.

President Director of PT Jasa Marga Rivan Achmad Purwanto, who also carried out the inspection, said that the progress of the Yogyakarta-Bawen Section 6 toll road project had reached 90 percent and the Solo-Yogyakarta toll road project, the Prambanan-Purwomartani section, had reached 95 percent.

He is also optimistic that the two toll roads can be functional during the Lebaran homecoming period.

"We ensure that the section from Bawen to Ambarawa is ready to be used functionally during Lebaran, and the work is 90 percent. Then this Lebaran also opens a new section of the Solo-Yogyakarta Toll Road, namely the Prambanan to Purwomartani section with a length of about 20 kilometers and is expected to be able to disperse the density from Prambanan to Kalasan," said Rivan.

On the same occasion, the National Police Deputy Chief, Inspector General Pol. Agus Suryonugroho, welcomed the presence of these two toll roads during the Lebaran transportation period.

He will prepare a traffic engineering scenario at the toll exit as an anticipation if there is a traffic jam.
