OJK Wants Public Confidence in the Insurance Industry to Recover

JAKARTA - The Chief Executive of the Insurance, Guarantee and Pension Fund (PPDP) of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) Ogi Prastomiyono emphasized the need to increase and restore public confidence in the insurance industry.

"We will reverse public trust in the insurance industry by upholding rules and professionalism, the integrity of the actors in the insurance sector," said Ogi Prastomiyono, quoted by Antara.

Over the past few years, public confidence in the insurance industry has been quite disturbed.

Responding to this statement, OJK invited various stakeholders to maintain the insurance industry so that public confidence can recover.

One of the efforts undertaken is to improve the quality of insurance agents. Currently, the number of insurance agents in Indonesia has reached more than 600 thousand people as of October 2025.

"We are improving the quality of insurance agents. This is already underway, thank you for your cooperation (with insurance companies that are members of the related associations), so that the agents are definitely registered with the OJK," said the Head of the Executive of the OJK PPDP.

If there are individuals who take actions that do not comply with the rules, he continued, their rights as insurance agents can be revoked.

Various insurance associations are said to be able to actively participate in informing insurance agent behavior that is not in accordance with applicable regulations.

"We are also drafting, developing to brokers, because it is circulating that brokers are not registered with the OJK, then do the progress function, then harm consumers. We are organizing it," said Ogi.
