Kerawang Residents Caught Distributing Fake Money in Cilincing Jakut
JAKARTA - A man with the initials MR (56) a resident of Karawang, West Java, was secured by residents while distributing counterfeit money at a warung located in RW 08, Kalibaru area, Cilincing, North Jakarta on Friday, January 23, 2026.
The arrest began from the suspicion of residents of the suspected perpetrator's movements who were going to shop at the stall. The residents who were suspicious then arrested the perpetrator.
During the search, residents found a number of 50 thousand rupiah bills that were suspected of being fake. The perpetrator was then secured to the nearest police post.
Meanwhile, the evidence seized was 9 pieces of counterfeit money in the form of 50 thousand and a Samsung Galaxy A11 mobile phone.
The perpetrator and the evidence were then picked up by a patrol car and taken to the Cilincing Police for further development.
"We have secured the perpetrator at the Cilincing Police for further investigation," said Cilincing Police Chief, AKP Bobi Subasri when confirmed, Friday, January 23, 2026.
The police chief said that the arrest of the counterfeit money dealer could be revealed based on reports from the community.
"At the time of the picket, the Opsnal III team received a phone call that there were perpetrators of the spread of counterfeit money in RW 08, Kalibaru. We are still developing the case to find the main supplier," he said.
Currently, his case is still being handled by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Cilincing Police.
