Driver of LCGC Car Found Dead while Stuck in Traffic on Jakbar

JAKARTA - A low-cost green car (LCGC) driver with the initials AR (51) was found dead inside a car in the middle of the traffic jam on Jalan Prof. Dr. Latumeten, Jelambar, West Jakarta, Thursday, January 22, 2026.

Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit (Kanit Reskrim) of the Grogol Petamburan Police, AKP Alexander Tengbunan, said his party had not been able to determine the cause of the victim's death.

"If the cause of death is stuck in traffic, it cannot be determined. It must be known first what the death is, whether it is sick or other factors," said Alexander, Friday, January 23, 2026.

Alexander explained that the incident was first known at around 13.00 WIB. A witness who was at a car workshop near the scene saw the victim's vehicle stopped in the middle of the road.

"The witness then informed the traffic officer that there was a car stopped in the middle of the road," he said.

Traffic officers who came to the location tried to push the victim's vehicle. However, the car could not be moved because the hand brake was in an active state. When the door was knocked and there was no response, the officer opened the car door and found the victim in a sitting position with his head bowed.

"After checking, the victim's pulse was gone," he explained.

The police then contacted the identification team of the West Jakarta Metro Police to conduct an initial examination. From the results of the examination, no signs of violence were found on the victim's body.

"There are no signs of violence. Next, the victim was taken to Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital for further examination related to his health condition," he said.

Alexander added that from the items found, officers found an asthma inhaler and several other drugs such as FreshCare and Insto in the victim's bag.

"Until now, the family has communicated with the Grogol Police to retrieve the victim's belongings and further coordination," he concluded.
