Pamer Sekolah Rakyat di Davos, Prabowo Tegaskan Pendidikan Kunci Putus Rantai Kemiskinan

JAKARTA - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that human development is the key to the nation's progress and prosperity. Therefore, the government prioritizes the education sector by expanding inclusive and quality learning access for all people.

This was conveyed by Prabowo when he gave a speech at the World Economic Forum (WEF) forum in Davos, Switzerland, Thursday, January 22.

"I believe that human resources determine long-term growth and results. Human development and human resource quality are the keys to a developed and prosperous nation. Lack of education is the path to a failed country," said Prabowo.

One of the programs run by the government is the establishment of the People's School, namely boarding schools specifically for children from extremely poor families. This program is aimed at breaking the chain of poverty through education.

According to Prabowo, until now the government has built 166 boarding schools for the poorest people.

"Usually boarding schools are only for children from wealthy families. Now, we are building a boarding school for the poorest of the poor," he said.

He added that the students accepted came from the lowest desil group economically as the main selection criteria.

In addition, the government is also implementing a digital education program through the distribution of digital interactive boards (PID) to schools throughout Indonesia. By the end of 2025, as many as 288,000 PID units have been distributed and will be added by another 1 million units in 2026.

Prabowo targets that in the next three years every school will have at least six classrooms with interactive digital devices to improve the quality of learning and supervision of the teaching and learning process.

On the other hand, the school renovation program is also continuing. In 2025, the government will renovate 16,140 schools and plans to increase the number to 60,000 schools this year.

"I am determined to modernize and renovate 60,000 schools," said Prabowo.
