At the WEF Davos, Prabowo Talks about the Digitalization of Indonesian Education
JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto touched on the effort to digitize education in Indonesia in his speech at the World Economic Forum, targeting that every school will have at least six classrooms equipped with interactive flat panels (interactive flat panel/IFP) in the next three years.
"We hope that in three years, all schools in Indonesia will have at least six classrooms with digital interactive panels," said the President at the 2026 World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, Thursday, January 22, reported by ANTARA.
Prabowo said that last year the government had renovated 16,140 schools and equipped 288,000 schools with one 75-inch IFP unit as part of the education digitization program.
This step is the initial foundation for the equalization of learning technology throughout the region.
Prabowo said the government plans to add around one million interactive smart panels by 2026. The addition is intended so that every school has at least three to four classrooms equipped with IFP, before being upgraded to a minimum of six classrooms within three years.
The President explained that with this program, the government can monitor the quality of teacher teaching and the response of students in various regions directly.
"That is, for example, in Jakarta, I can enter any school in Indonesia and I can see the quality of the teachers' teaching. I can see the children's reactions and in the first weeks, we see the enthusiasm of the children, the enthusiasm of the teachers, and the villagers," said the President.
Prabowo also assessed that the digitization of education is an important step in empowering future generations. According to him, human resource development is a determinant factor for growth and long-term returns, including for global investor confidence.
"Why is this important for global investors who gather at the World Economic Forum? Because I believe that human capital determines long-term growth, long-term returns," said Prabowo.
The President emphasized that education plays a key role in the progress and success of a nation.
Without adequate education and the ability to keep up with modern science and technology, a country is considered difficult to achieve stability and prosperity.
"Human development, human resources are the key to a developed and successful nation. Lack of education is the path to a failed country. No country can hope to be stable and prosperous if its people are illiterate, if its people are unable to follow modern science and technology," he said.
