President Jokowi Shows Off The Job Creation Law At The P4G Summit Speech
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo stated that the state must be more serious in developing sustainable development that is inclusive and resilient in green development amid the threat of climate change and the COVID-19 pandemic.
This he made in a virtual speech at the Partnership for Green growth and Global goals 2030 (P4G) Summit or the Partnership Initiative for Green Growth and the 2030 Global Goals.
"We need to take fundamental steps to ensure the achievement of green development at the global level," Jokowi said on the Presidential Secretariat's Youtube video, Monday, May 31.
Jokowi said that countries must carry out extraordinary ways partnerships between stakeholders are the key to ensuring that production and consumption economic activities are carried out in a sustainable manner.
First, the state must create an enabling environment that encourages synergy between investment and job creation with green development.
He claimed that the issuance of Law Number 11 of 2020 concerning Job Creation is the commitment of the Indonesian government to balance economic progress and maintain environmental sustainability.
"Indonesia has also launched the Job Creation Law as a form of Indonesia's commitment to ensure that the economic and social progress of the community does not harm the environment," said Jokowi.
Second, Jokowi said that the state needs to encourage innovation in mobilizing supporting resources for the implementation of green growth. Availability of financial support and technology transfer is the key to success for green development for carbon neutrality.
"Therefore, Indonesia is open to investment and technology transfer. Central Indonesia is developing the largest green industrial area in the world in North Kalimantan which has great potential in developing renewable energy," he explained.
Third, our country needs to strengthen concrete cooperation that can be implemented immediately and can be sustainable. According to Jokowi, protectionism under the guise of environmental issues should be avoided.
"Pro-environmental parameters must be clear and carried out honestly and transparently," said Jokowi.
Furthermore, Jokowi said that cooperation and joint efforts to solve problems are a fundamental condition for the success of a green economy. Especially, at a time when the world is recovering from a pandemic.
"I emphasize that Indonesia is highly committed to working together with the world in realizing a more sustainable, inclusive and resilient life," he concluded.
