Mensesneg guarantees the revocation of permits for 28 companies that damage the environment without disturbing workers

JAKARTA - The Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi said that the revocation of business permits for 28 companies in three provinces that damaged the environment, still paid attention to the continuation of economic activities and the fate of workers.

Prasetyo explained that although the process of revoking the permit had been decided, technically the follow-up was still being carried out by the relevant ministries and agencies.

"The President's instructions, these law enforcement processes are also asked to ensure that economic activities are not disrupted, which will result in disruption of employment for the community," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, January 22.

He admitted that there were still a number of companies that were still operating, but this was not a problem as long as it was aimed at maintaining economic stability and employment.

He said that before the decision to revoke the permit was taken, the government had formed an evaluation team led by Danantara.

The team is tasked with assessing and preparing steps so that economic activities in related companies, if still possible to continue, are not suddenly stopped.

According to Prasetyo, there are also companies whose economic activities must be diverted, especially in the forestry sector such as holders of Forest Use Rights (HPH).

The government, said Prasetyo, is committed to reducing tree felling activities to maintain environmental sustainability.

"This is inevitable, we have to pay attention to the people who have been relying on their jobs in these companies to be transferred to other jobs," he said.
