BRIDGE: When Young Leaders of Singapore & Indonesia Weave Friendship Through Diversity

JAKARTA - Have you ever imagined what it would be like if the changemakers from two neighboring countries sat down together to celebrate their differences? Last week, through the BRIDGE program from the Singapore International Foundation (SIF), 30 young leaders from Singapore and Indonesia did just that - proving that social cohesion begins with honest conversations at the dinner table to the footsteps in the city corner.

Not just a formal seminar, participants are invited to experience the pulse of Singapore through an emotional immersive experience:

Storytelling & Culinary: Finding that digital storytelling and food are universal languages to start an inclusive dialogue.

Walking Tour in Selegie: See firsthand how grassroots initiatives embrace marginalized communities.

Interreligious Harmony: Visit the Harmony in Diversity Gallery to understand how Singapore takes care of tolerance in everyday life.

"Although the context of our country is different, the challenges related to inclusion are universal," said Amalina Binte Abdul Nasir, one of the participants. In line with him, Budy Sugandi from Indonesia felt that this program was a collective reflection to build real connections, not just theories on paper.

More than just an exchange program, BRIDGE is a reminder to us that in an increasingly complex world, empathy is the best investment. The relationships forged over the course of this week lay the foundation for a more inclusive ASEAN future, where young leaders no longer see differences as boundaries, but rather as a strength to move forward together.
