Indonesia decided to join the Gaza Peace Council as stated in a joint statement by the foreign ministers of eight countries.

Eight countries that declared their membership in the Gaza Peace Council, namely Indonesia, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The Gaza Peace Council is led by the President of the United States Donald J. Trump as the initiator.

At the event location, President Prabowo had arrived at around 11.00 local time, and immediately entered the VVIP room (holding room) to wait for the event to begin. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Sugiono, had arrived at the Congress Hall earlier to welcome President Prabowo's arrival and provide an explanation about the event to the President.

President Prabowo, wearing a black turban and a gray suit, sat in the front row on the stage with a number of other heads of state. President Trump greeted President Prabowo before taking the podium and giving a speech.

The Gaza Peace Council, which was formed by the President of the United States Donald J. Trump, is a follow-up to the Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict supported in United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Resolution 2803.

Trump has been announcing plans to form a Gaza Peace Council since last week and inviting leaders of a number of countries to join.

Trump explained that the Gaza Peace Council could become a "temporary authority" in Gaza, Palestine, which among other things is tasked with overseeing the mobilization of international resources for the Palestinian people in Gaza.

The eight countries that decided to join the Gaza Peace Council, as stated in a joint statement by their foreign ministers, believe that the Trump-formed institution can be a way to achieve peace, a permanent ceasefire, stability and security for the Palestinian people in Gaza.

In the same statement, the eight countries also emphasized the right of the Palestinian people to establish a sovereign state in accordance with international legal rules.

Nevertheless, a number of countries have refused to join the Gaza Peace Council, for example most of the countries of the European Union, including France, and China. These countries stated that they trusted the United Nations more for the recovery of the situation in Gaza.
