WP Offers Tax to Bring Beking, Purbaya: Immediately Report

JAKARTA - Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa emphasized the importance of the integrity of all tax employees in carrying out their duties.

According to him, one violation alone can damage public trust and have a direct impact on state revenue.

"I am confident that with better friends in the future, our tax target should be achieved," he told the media, Thursday, January 22.

Purbaya also asked tax officials to immediately report if there are taxpayers or business actors who try to negotiate the amount of tax.

He assessed that a firm stance against such practices was very important to maintain the stability of state revenue.

"All of you lead units on the front lines, where taxpayers come, businesses come, where the country's trust is at stake. So later if there is any gossip, bring a guarantor, let me know, we will all be together," he said.

Furthermore, Purbaya emphasized that the position held was not a gift, but a great trust that had an impact on the sustainability of the state.

According to him, if the fiscal condition is disturbed, then various national interests will also be affected, even it can make it difficult for the whole nation.

He emphasized that the role of tax officials is very crucial and cannot be considered trivial, because it concerns the stability of a country as a whole.

Purbaya also reminded that protection for tax officials in carrying out their duties was given by Prabowo Subianto, so there was no need to fear any party who claimed to have strong backing.

"So you have to dare to carry out your duties according to what is outlined in each of your lines or levels, if there is a fuss, hit it. If someone brings a car, hit it. If the car is too strong, let me know. We back up the president directly so you don't have to be afraid. There is no star higher than the president, right? So you should all carry out your duties, unless you have your own intentions that are not good," he said.

On that occasion, Purbaya revealed that based on internal reports, parties who often bargained for taxes were said to have certain backing, and the identity of the parties had never been clearly conveyed.

"If I ask my subordinates, why don't you move? There is a backing. Who is the backer? Diem. So I'm a little confused. I haven't heard of any names that have emerged, just vaguely. That's what I emphasized earlier, if there is, please let me know, I will arrange it," he said.

Purbaya emphasized that the issue of tax collection is not a trivial matter, and if in the previous year the failure of the target was still understandable because of the early period of office, then this year there is no longer any reason for this to happen.

"So this is not a joke. Last year I could say that the tax revenue was not achieved, I was still new, this year I can't," he said.
