30.7 Thousand Hectare of People's Rice Paddies in Aceh Damaged by Disaster at the End of 2025

JAKARTA - The Aceh Provincial Marine and Fisheries Service (DKP) recorded that 30.7 thousand hectares of people's ponds were damaged due to flash floods that hit the westernmost province of Indonesia at the end of 2025.

"The area of public ponds damaged by hydrometeorological disasters at the end of November 2025 in Aceh Province reached 30.7 thousand hectares. The damaged public ponds are spread across nine districts/cities in Aceh Province," said Acting Head of the Aceh Provincial DKP Kariamansyah in Banda Aceh, quoted by Antara, Thursday.

He said that North Aceh Regency with the largest number of people's ponds that were damaged by the flood disaster reached 10.6 thousand hectares.

Then, he said, East Aceh Regency with an area of 7,094 hectares. Meanwhile, the damage to the people's ponds in Bireuen Regency reached 4,945 hectares.

Meanwhile, the damage to the people's ponds in Aceh Tamiang Regency reached 3,435 hectares, Pidie Regency with an area of 1,759 hectares, and Pidie Jaya Regency reached 1,756 hectares.

"As well as damage to the people's ponds in Langsa City with an area of 786 hectares, Lhokseumawe City reached 304 hectares, and in West Aceh Regency reached 3.67 hectares," said Kariamansyah.

In addition to the pond, he said, damage was also experienced by the water channel to the pond. The total water channel of the pond that suffered damage due to the hydrometeorological disaster was 629 kilometers long.

The longest damaged channel is in North Aceh Regency with a length of 333 kilometers and Bireuen Regency along 170.87 kilometers.

Meanwhile, the damage to the canal in Pidie Jaya Regency reached 50.95 kilometers, East Aceh Regency along 50 kilometers, and Aceh Tamiang Regency along 20 meters.

"The damage data of the people's ponds will be revalidated to obtain more valid data. The people's ponds were rehabilitated this year and are expected to be completed within three years," said Kariamansyah.
