In front of the DPR Commission X, Menbud Fadli Zon revealed that the Solo Kraton Grant Fund was received in the name of an individual.

JAKARTA - Minister of Culture Fadli Zon revealed the practice of distributing grant funds for the Surakarta Palace, which has been received on behalf of the individual. The finding became the basis for the government to appoint a responsible person to ensure that the use of grant funds, including from the state budget, has clear accountability.

The explanation was given by Fadli during a working meeting with Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday (21/1/2026).

"So far, according to the information, the recipient of the grant is personal. In the future, there must be accountability, especially grants from the state budget," said Fadli. He emphasized that the state could not allow the distribution of public funds without a strict monitoring mechanism.

In front of members of Commission X of the DPR, Fadli explained, the long conflict in the Kasunanan Surakarta Hadiningrat Palace also hindered the management of the 8.5-hectare national cultural heritage area. Internal disputes even have an impact on building maintenance, including locking actions that make the area unmaintained.

According to Fadli, the government had invited all parties to sit together after the death of PB XIII. However, not all parties were present due to differences in leadership claims. "We invite on behalf of the KTP, because the king is two and claim each other," he said.

To ensure that the state is present to protect cultural heritage without interfering in the internal affairs of the family, the Ministry of Culture appointed Panembahan Agung Tedjowulan as the executor and responsible party. The appointment is contained in SK Minister of Culture Number 8 of 2026.

Fadli said that Tedjowulan would facilitate family deliberations and act on behalf of the central government in managing the area. "If there is no responsible party, the state is considered to have let it go. In fact, our task is to intervene for the cultural reserve," said Fadli.

He also revealed that the revitalization of the palace museum had been 25 percent, but had stopped again due to conflicts and locking areas. The government, said Fadli, continues to coordinate with the Central Java Provincial Government and the Surakarta City Government so that the protection of the area continues.
