Changan Lumin Live Driving Sensation in Jakarta, Here's the Impact
JAKARTA - After officially launching in November 2025, Changan recently invited media crews to experience the thrill of driving the Changan Lumin in Jakarta.
"Through the media test drive activity entitled 'Seriously Playful in the City', we want to invite media colleagues to experience a fun mobility in Jakarta with Changan Lumin as an efficient and stylish electric vehicle," said Changan Indonesia CEO, Setiawan Surya.
The VOI team had the opportunity to be part of the sensation of driving. So how does the driving feel from Changan Lumin? Before going deeper, it wouldn't be right if we didn't discuss the design.
Lumin EV steals the spotlight with its "moon eye" LED lights that give an expressive impression, as if it has its own character. The body shape is made round and concise, strengthened by a distinctive rim design that makes its appearance easy to recognize on the road.
Exterior color options are available in five options, namely Wheat Yellow, Moss Green, Sakura Powder, Foggy White, and Magpie Gray. Interestingly, the interior can be personalized through two color combinations, gray-black and light gray-orange, giving a more personal touch to the owner.
In terms of dimensions, the Lumin EV has a length of 3,270 mm, a width of 1,700 mm, and a height of 1,590 mm, with a wheelbase of 1,980 mm and a ground clearance of 150 mm.
Driving feel
The journey started from the Titik Temu Cafe SCBD, the media group moved to the One Satrio area, Kuningan, by crossing HI Roundabout and the National Monument (Monas) as an icon of the city of Jakarta. Along the route, Changan Lumin showed ease of maneuvering thanks to its compact dimensions.
Practicality and comfort are also strengthened through the use of 14-inch rims that add a modern impression to the vehicle's silhouette, while supporting confident urban mobility.
The series of trips continued through the toll road to Arjuna Hyper Bowling in the West Jakarta area. Here, media colleagues had the opportunity to experience the acceleration of the Changan Lumin, as well as explore the driving character with the Eco and Sport driving modes. However, it felt a little dizzy when asked to accelerate hard.
In terms of comfort and practicality, the Changan Lumin is supported by a spacious cabin space for four people. The efficient interior arrangement provides adequate leg and head space for the driver, so it is still comfortable to use for city trips even though it is compact. However, when in the second row, the space is not too big, with a height of 168 cm, the feet are not too comfortable, especially when the front seats are pulled back fully, the suspension is also a bit hard, but the handling is quite comfortable.
Features
The comfort aspect is also supported by connectivity features that are relevant to the needs of modern users, including a 10.25-inch touchscreen head unit that has supported Apple CarPlay and Android connectivity, unlike other cars that are very easy to use, unfortunately users have to install CarAuto. Ease of use is further enhanced through the presence of Smart Keyless Entry and Start features as well as an electronic gear shifter with a modern design, and there is still a handbrake.
Travel distance and power
The lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack with a capacity of 28.08 kWh is claimed to be able to carry this car up to 301 km based on the NEDC test standard. The power source comes from a 48 Hp electric motor with a torque of 83 Nm which is channeled through the front wheel drive (FWD). The top speed is 101 km/h, enough to support commuter activities and daily operational needs in the city.
Conclusion
Overall, this car offers various aspects of comfort, but there are some notes from Changan Lumin as mentioned above.
