Chinese Electric Sports Car SC01 Ready to Enter Europe, Limited Production of 1,000 Units

JAKARTA - The European automotive market will welcome a new electric sports car made in China. Yes, the car is made by a start-up company for modifying cars, Tianjin Gongjiangpai Auto Technology, which was founded by Feng Xiaotong.

Citing Carscoops, Thursday, January 22, the car which can also be an investment from Xiaomi will be assembled locally which will be located in Italy, and only 1,000 units will be available for pre-order.

Named SC01, it is very attractive in design, especially with the sharp headlights, and the distinct curves in some parts make it very sporty.

At 4,106 mm (161.7 inches) long, it's a little shorter than the Alpine A110 and about 270 mm (10.6 inches) more compact than the recently discontinued Porsche 718 Cayman internal combustion engine.

However, the main highlight is its weight. With a weight of 1,365 kg, this aluminum-based SC-01 is very light for an electric vehicle, even lighter than the 520 kg rear-wheel drive MG Cyberster.

The power comes from two electric motors that produce a combined power of 434 PS, enough to blast the SC-01 from 0 to 100 km in 2.9 seconds.

The 60 kWh battery gives the car a claimed range of 500 km on the CLTC cycle, an estimated range closer to 270 miles (435 km) according to the WLPT, and even shorter.

On the inside, the SC-01 will probably be more surprising in not having a large touchscreen wall, and there is only one driver screen and physical AC controls.

In other words, it feels like it was designed for people who really enjoy driving, and plan to drive at high speeds so they don't want to spend precious time looking for buttons on a digital screen.

The price is estimated to be around US$72,000 or around Rp1.2 billion.
