BPBD: NTB Hit by Flooding and Strong Winds Due to Extreme Weather

MATARAM - A number of regions in districts/cities in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) were hit by floods and strong winds due to extreme weather that enveloped the province from Tuesday to Thursday morning.

Based on data from the Pusdalops PB BPBD NTB, floods and strong winds hit a number of villages/neighborhoods in West Lombok Regency, North Lombok, Central Lombok, West Sumbawa, and Mataram City.

The Head of the NTB BPBD, Sadimin, said that the flood in West Lombok Regency occurred in Perampuan Village, Labuapi District, and Sekotong Tengah Village, West Sekotong, Persiapan Blongas Village, Cendi Manik, Taman Baru, Persiapan Pengatap Village and Pelangan Village, in Sekotong District.

"Floods occurred due to heavy rainfall since 01.00 Wita on Wednesday morning which caused flooding in a number of areas in Labuapi and Sekotong Districts," he said in Mataram, as reported by Antara, Thursday, January 22.

In Perampuan Village, there are 782 affected families (KK) or 782 houses submerged, 200 KK were displaced. The evacuation point is centered at the Perampuan Mosque and the village office.

In Sekotong District, Sekotong Tengah Village, 1,997 KK (5,557 people) were affected and 1,997 houses were submerged. Then in Sekotong Barat Village, 35 KK (135 people) or 35 houses were submerged.

Persiapan Blongas Village 395 KK (1,092 people) or 395 houses were submerged. Cendi Manik Village 360 KK (1,084 people) was affected. Taman Baru Village 1,137 KK (3,340 people) was affected. Persiapan Pengatap Village 520 KK (1,890 people) was affected or 520 houses were submerged. Pelangan Village 347 KK (991 people) or 347 houses.

According to him, the efforts being made at this time are still carrying out data collection on affected residents, opening a public kitchen at the Perampuan Village Office, providing emergency response assistance in the form of food packages, mineral water and adult diapers, and clothing.

In addition, the West Lombok Regency Social Service (Dinsos) provided emergency response assistance to Perampuan Village in the form of ready-to-eat food, children's food, mattresses, kids ware, family kit, blankets, instant noodles, and tents. In fact, his party opened a post at the Perampuan Village Office.

"BPBD is sending clean water to Persiapan Blongas Village for the needs of affected people," said Sadimin.

In Central Lombok Regency, flooding occurred in a number of villages to submerge residents' houses, such as in Kabul Village, Pandan Indah in the Southwest Praya District. Here 145 houses were submerged with 145 households affected.

Bonder Village, Selong Belanak, Tanak Rarang in West Barat District, 130 households were affected. Kuta Village, Pengembur in Pujut District, 97 households were affected. Puyung Village, Jonggat District, 5 households. Pemepek Village, Pringgarata District and Kidang Village, East Praya District, 80 households were affected.

"At some points the flood has not receded to this day. The team has conducted data collection and distributed assistance to the flood site," he said.

In North Lombok Regency, a strong wind disaster occurred starting from Tuesday (20/1) to Wednesday (21/1) morning. As a result, a number of trees fell blocking access to roads and residents' houses also collapsed.

There are seven villages in four sub-districts that are affected by strong winds in North Lombok. Among them, Akar-Akar Village, Mumbul Sari Sub-District, Bayan. Sambil Bangkol Village, Gangga Sub-District. Pemenang Village, Gili Meno, Gili Air Sub-District Pemenang and Sigar Penjalin Village, Tanjung Sub-District.

In West Sumbawa Regency, a strong wind disaster caused trees to fall and block the road and damaged houses. This disaster hit Manemeng Village, Mura Village, Brang Ene District. Labuhan Lalar Village, Banjar, Lamunga, Telaga Bertong Village, Taliwang District. Maluk Village, Mantun in Maluk District.

Then the city of Mataram experienced a strong wind and tornado which caused trees to fall and residents' houses were severely damaged. Such as in Ampenan, Bintaro, Pajarakan Karya. Karang Baru, Monjok Timur in Selaparang District. Cakrangera Village, Sapta Marga, Cilinaya in Cakranegara District.

Sadimin appealed to remember that the NTB region has entered the rainy season period and some are entering the peak period.

"The public is expected to be aware of the potential for extreme weather events that can trigger hydrometeorological disasters such as strong winds, floods and landslides that can occur suddenly," he said.
