Foo Fighters to Laufey Will Give Special Tribute to Mariah Carey
JAKARTA - A number of top musicians across genres, such as Foo Fighters to Laufey, are confirmed to gather at the Los Angeles Convention Center on Friday, January 30.
Their presence is aimed at paying special tribute to Mariah Carey who has been named the 2026 MusiCares Person of the Year.
The prestigious award, which enters its 35th year, not only celebrates Carey's incredible musical achievements, but also her dedication to humanitarian action.
In addition to Foo Fighters and Laufey, the list of confirmed performers includes Charlie Puth, Kesha, John Legend, Maggie Rogers, Taylor Momsen from The Pretty Reckless, Jennifer Hudson, Adam Lambert, Billy Porter, to Teddy Swims.
Carey's longtime collaborator, Jermaine Dupri, is also scheduled to attend to guide a specially curated DJ set. Meanwhile, the music director position will be held by Daniel Moore II with the Lewis & Clark production house as the event's executive producer.
Responding to this tribute, Mariah Carey expressed her gratitude for the support of fellow musicians.
"I feel so honored to see these incredible artists come together for this night. Their generosity, their presence, and their commitment to this moment mean more than I can say with words," Carey said, quoted by iHeartRadio, Thursday, January 22.
"Being a part of this celebration for the good of MusiCares and the support they give to the music community makes tonight even more special. I always believe that music heals, and music should be shared," he added.
For information, MusiCares itself is a philanthropic organization under the auspices of the Recording Academy (organizer of the Grammy Awards) which focuses on the welfare of professionals in the music industry.
The Person of the Year award is a major source of fundraising for mental health programs, emergency financial assistance, and health services for musicians in need.
This event is predicted to be one of the iconic moments in the 2026 music calendar, given Mariah Carey's position as one of the best-selling soloists of all time.
Throughout his career, he has scored 19 songs at the top of the Billboard Hot 100, a record for a solo artist that is still hard to break.
