New Rules 2026, Hajj Pilgrims are Prohibited from Walking from Muzdalifah to Mina

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah said that pilgrims for 2026 are prohibited from performing the walk from Muzdalifah to Mina, which often occurs every year.

Laksma TNI Harun Arrasyid said the ban referred to rules set by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj as well as considerations for the safety and health of pilgrims.

The distance between Muzdalifah and Mina is quite far, coupled with the hot weather and mass density, making the walking action very risky to cause extreme fatigue, dehydration, and pilgrims to get lost or separated from the group.

"Can pilgrims go on foot or on foot? If it's for walking, of course it's not allowed because there are indeed separate rules from the Saudi Ministry of Hajj," said Harun, quoted by Antara, Thursday, January 22.

Harun ensured that the government had facilitated adequate transportation for all Indonesian pilgrims. The movement of pilgrims from Muzdalifah to Mina will be served entirely using taradudi buses that have been prepared. Therefore, there is no reason for pilgrims to force themselves to walk.

"We have also facilitated our congregation to move from Muzdalifah with taradudi vehicles. So our congregation from Muzdalifah to Mina is not allowed to walk, it is not allowed," said Harun.

The ban is also related to traffic flow management in the Holy Land. Irregular pedestrians can hinder the movement of buses and operational vehicles, which will actually exacerbate congestion.

Hajj officers, who have been trained mentally and physically during the training, will be on alert to supervise and direct pilgrims to continue to comply with the transportation procedures that have been set for the sake of smooth and mutual safety.
