Sudewo Suspect of Bribery DJKA, KPK Investigates Money Flow to Commission V of the DPR

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has the opportunity to investigate members of Commission V of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia for the period 2019-2024 who received bribes for the construction of a train line project at the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) together with Pati Regent Sudewa or Sudewo.

KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo said that the opportunity arose because investigators were still conducting examinations of a number of parties who knew the case.

Sadewo, who was a member of Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives, has been a suspect in the alleged bribery. The determination was carried out after he was caught in a hand-in-hand operation (OTT) related to extortion of village equipment filling in Pati Regency on Monday, January 19.

"The investigation into this case is still ongoing. We will wait for developments together, considering that a number of witnesses are still being summoned for questioning," Budi told VOI, Thursday, January 22.

Budi said that the information collected will be used by investigators to develop the DJKA project bribery case. "Both to explain the parties suspected of playing a role and those who receive money from this alleged corruption," he said.

For information, Commission V of the DPR RI has the task of handling infrastructure and transportation. One of its partners is the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub).

As previously reported, the KPK also named Sudewa or Sudewo as the Regent of Pati as a suspect in the case of bribes for the construction and maintenance of railway lines in the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA).

Acting Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK, Asep Guntur Rahayu, said the determination of the suspect was made after Sudewo was caught in a hand-in-hand operation (OTT) related to extortion of village device filling on Monday, January 19.

"Yes, yes (so two suspects, ed)," Asep told reporters at the KPK's Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Tuesday, January 20.

Asep said that this OTT became the gateway for the anti-corruption commission to name Sudewo as a suspect in the DJKA case. "Today we have also raised it to an investigation. So at once," he said.

Sudewo has already been questioned in the DJKA bribery case on September 22, 2025. He was questioned about the auction arrangement to the alleged provision of project fees for the construction of a train line at the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub).

Meanwhile, Sudewo, after being examined by investigators, chose to be stingy. The Gerindra Party politician underwent an examination from 09.45 WIB to 15.03 WIB at the KPK Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta.

"I was asked for information regarding the train," Sudewo told reporters at the location.

Sudewo also claimed that there was no refund after being examined by the KPK. However, this explanation was delivered incompletely because the aides accompanying him actually hindered the work of reporters at the location.
