Flood of Stone Material Disrupts Pantura Situbondo Line

SITUBUNDO - Flooding of river water brought rock and sand material to close the access to the north coast highway (pantura) in Situbondo Regency, East Java.

The stone and sand materials carried away by the flood overflow of the river in Kembangsambi Village, Pasir Putih Village, Bungatan District, have been occurring since around 19.30 WIB and have caused the Pantura road to be completely paralyzed.

"Yes, it is true that the flood brought stone and sand materials because the river bank was broken again like the previous year," said the Coordinator of the Operation Control Center (Pusdalops) of the Situbondo Regency BPBD, Puriyono, as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, January 21.

As a result, he continued, stone and sand materials covered the Pantura highway which connects Java and Bali.

"We appeal to road users from Surabaya and from Banyuwangi to turn around or pull over," said Puriyono.

Information collected by ANTARA, as of 21.00 WIB, the Situbondo pantura road could not be passed by vehicles because the stone material closed the highway.

Before the flood overflowed the river, the Situbondo area was hit by heavy rain since Wednesday afternoon, so that the high water discharge and the river bank from the mountains broke through.
