JAKARTA - The joint SAR team has again found the body parts of the third victim of the ATR 42-500 plane crash with the registration number PK-THT belonging to PT Indonesia Air Transport (IAT) after being found in the Bulusaraung mountain area, Pangkep Regency, South Sulawesi.
"(It has) three that have been found. It was 12.30 WITA," said Head of Basarnas RI Marsda Mohammad Syafii at the Makassar Class A Basarnas Office, Wednesday.
Regarding the gender of the victim after being found by the joint SAR team, he said, it was not yet known for sure because it was still in the process of evacuation. The information obtained was found in the body.
"We can't say that (mention the gender). The information we get is in the form of body parts (pieces of the victim's body)," said the former Assistant Staff Officer of the Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Air Force.
Regarding the discovery of the victim by the team carrying out the SAR operation, Syafii said that they were on average searching for combing areas under the local mountain.
"Almost all of these operations are carried out on cliffs and in ravines. So, later we can exactly release it after we get more detailed data," he said.
Asked about the condition of the third victim after being found whether he was still in the ravine, or had been evacuated by the rescuer team, the Head of the Education Service of the Indonesian Air Force stated that he was temporarily evacuated.
"We are in the process of evacuation and we hope that we can shift to the point where this morning (Lampeso village, Maros) we evacuated the victims, because that is the fastest," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, January 21.
To speed up the evacuation, air routes can be used as one of the fastest priority options and facilitate the work of the joint SAR team.
"Of course, as a priority, we have ensured that the aircraft is ready to evacuate, both for the victims and for the aircraft's body parts that allow us to carry it on the plane," he said again.
Meanwhile, the location of the discovery of the victim's body was not far from sectors 1 and 4. In addition, the team carried out a search effort in sectors 2 and 3.
"I have said since yesterday, (searching for victims) in the depths of a thousand meter abyss (from the height of Mount Bulusaraung)," he added.
