Malaysia strongly condemns Israel's attack on UNRWA facilities

JAKARTA - Malaysia strongly condemns Israel's attack on the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) or the United Nations Agency for Palestinian Refugees, in Sheikh Jarrah, East Jerusalem.

The Malaysian Foreign Ministry in its statement confirmed that Israel has an obligation under international law to ensure humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people without restrictions.

The Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the distribution of aid must be without restrictions, whether aid by the United Nations (UN), especially UNRWA, international organizations, and UN member states.

Israel is also obliged to protect and respect the presence of all humanitarian and medical personnel, as well as to guarantee the privileges and immunities of the UN, including buildings, property, and UN personnel.

This is in line with the International Court of Justice (ICJ) Advisory Opinion dated October 22, 2025.

Malaysia calls on the international community to hold Israel accountable for its ongoing violations of international law, including the UN Charter, the 1946 UN Convention on the Privileges and Immunities of the Special Rapporteur, and relevant UN resolutions.

"This impunity must be stopped," the Malaysian Foreign Ministry statement read.
