Perry Warjiyo Emphasizes Filling BI Deputy Governor Does Not Disturb Central Bank Tasks

JAKARTA - Bank Indonesia (BI) Governor Perry Warjiyo emphasized that the process of filling the position of Deputy Governor of BI will not affect the implementation of the duties and authorities of Bank Indonesia as the central bank as mandated in the Bank Indonesia Law.

"It should be noted that the decision-making at Bank Indonesia is made by the Board of Governors collectively and collegially. The recommendation for the decision is formulated and recommended through existing committees," he said in a press conference, Wednesday, January 21.

He also explained that the decision-making process for policies at Bank Indonesia was still carried out professionally and supported by strong governance.

Perry added that Bank Indonesia will continue to synergize with government policies to maintain stability and encourage sustainable economic growth.

On the other hand, he explained that the nomination process for the Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia which is currently taking place in the House of Representatives (DPR) RI was carried out in connection with Juda Agung's resignation from his position as Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia on January 13, 2026.

Perry said the resignation letter was submitted to the President of the Republic of Indonesia with a copy to the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the Governor of Bank Indonesia.

Perry said that in accordance with the provisions of the Bank Indonesia Law and taking into account the requirements of the members of the Board of Governors, the Governor of Bank Indonesia on January 14, 2026 has submitted a recommendation to the President in the form of three Deputy Governor candidates, namely Thomas Djiwandono, Dicky Kartikoyono, and Solikin M. Juhro.

"Furthermore, the President has submitted the proposal of the three candidates for Deputy Governor to the House of Representatives to obtain approval as provided for and regulated in the law," he said.

"Of course we will leave it entirely to the DPR to give approval to one of the three deputy governor candidates," he added.
