Persija manager about Ivar Jenner's approach: Still waiting
JAKARTA - The issue of the transfer of Indonesian national team midfielder, Ivar Jenner, to Persija Jakarta continues to strengthen in the first half of the 2025/2026 Super League competition season.
Persija Jakarta manager, Ardhi Tjahjoko, did not deny that his party was indeed monitoring the situation of players who are currently still under contract with the Dutch club, FC Utrecht.
Ardhi admitted that Ivar Jenner's name had been on Persija's radar since the start of the season. However, he stressed that until now there has been no official agreement reached between the two parties.
"At that time there was indeed a discussion (with Ivar Jenner), but I haven't updated the progress, I'm still waiting," said Ardhi Tjahjoko in a statement quoted Wednesday, January 21, 2026.
Ivar Jenner's situation at FC Utrecht is also in the spotlight. The 21-year-old is said to be increasingly difficult to get regular playing time with his club this season.
This situation triggered speculation that Jenner needed a new club to maintain his performance and career continuity, especially as an important part of the Indonesian National Team.
Persija Jakarta is said to see Ivar Jenner as a figure that suits the team's needs in the midfield. His experience playing in Europe as well as his contribution with the Indonesian National Team are added value that makes the Kemayoran Tigers interested in bringing him in.
However, Ardhi emphasized that Persija did not want to rush into making a decision. According to him, the transfer process must be carried out carefully, including considering the status of the player's contract and communication with his home club.
"We don't want to be hasty. Everything must go through the process and according to the needs of the team," said Ardhi.
