YOGYAKARTA - The government has planned to open the Lembaga Pengelola Dana Pendidikan (LPDP) scholarship this year. The LPDP quota for 2026 has been prepared for 5,750 scholarships.

The Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Mendiktisaintek), Brian Yuliarto, said the details of the quota included 1,000 seats for Garuda scholarships (S1), 4,000 seats for S2 and S3 levels, and 750 seats for doctoral specialists.

"We want to ensure that the state is present in every step of the nation's children who want to advance. The LPDP program has consistently produced superior talent. For this year, we target 5,750 new scholarship recipients," explained Brian at the State Palace, Jakarta, Thursday (15/1) ago.

He explained that the focus of the provision of S2 and S3 scholarships this year will be more specific. "The S2 and S3 programs will be coordinated with the industry growth targets announced by the President in the Asta Cita. The Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi previously said that President Prabowo Subianto gave instructions that the allocation of LPDP scholarships be increased for technology, engineering, science, and mathematics (STEM) to above 80 percent.

Deputy Minister of Finance Thomas Djiwandono explained that the realization of investment financing for the LPDP reached Rp. 26.7 trillion.

"The first is the LPDP with a realization of Rp. 26.7 trillion, from the total endowment fund of Rp. 180.8 trillion," explained Thomas in the APBN KiTa press conference.

Thomas revealed that the LPDP fund has reached 680,192 students, with a total accumulated funding of Rp. 49.47 trillion. In addition, support for strengthening research is also continuously expanded through thousands of research projects.

"This benefit is felt by 680,192 students with an accumulated funding of Rp. 49.47 trillion. There are 3,707 research projects funded worth Rp. 3.6 trillion," he said.
