8 Features That Will Come to the iPhone Thanks to Gemini Integration
Apple has confirmed its latest partnership with Google earlier this year. In the partnership, Google will integrate the Gemini Artificial Intelligence (AI) model into the latest generation of iPhones.
This integration will support the improvement of Apple Intelligence and Siri that are more advanced and personal with the presence of new features. This series of features will make the interaction feel more natural, responsive, and efficient. Here are eight features that are expected to be present thanks to Gemini, launching from 9to5mac.
Siri Emotional Support: Siri will be able to provide more empathetic and supportive responses when users feel sad or lonely. Insight About the World: Siri will provide factual information and be able to build conversations, similar to ChatGPT and Gemini chatbots. Document Creation in Apple Notes: Siri will get the ability to automatically draft documents or notes based on the topic requested by the user. Booking a Trip: Siri will get logistical capabilities such as booking travel tickets or hotels directly. Clarify Requests: When Siri can't handle the questions asked by the user, the assistant will ask for clarification, not give up. Storytelling Ability: Users will be able to ask Siri to tell a creative story or a specific narrative spontaneously. Past Conversation Memory: Siri will be able to remember the context of previous conversations to provide more relevant answers. Proactive Suggestions: Siri will get the ability to suggest the best departure time to the airport by monitoring traffic congestion conditions in real time.These Gemini-based features are expected to be available to users through the iOS 26.4 update. The operating system (OS) will only be tested in February. Meanwhile, some other features such as conversation memory will be available in a newer version of iOS, namely iOS 27 which is scheduled to be released in June.
Through this collaboration, Apple remains committed to protecting user privacy by processing data using its own Private Cloud Compute system. This will ensure that all user sensitive data remains under Apple's control even though the brain comes from Google's AI model.
Gemini's presence on the iPhone is expected to help Apple maintain its dominance in the smart device market. Gemini is also present to overcome Apple's challenges in adopting AI into its digital assistant.
