KPK-Minister of PKP to Discuss Plans to Use Meikarta for Subsidized Housing

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will receive the Minister of Housing and Spatial Planning (PKP) Maruarar Sirait and his entourage today, January 21. A number of discussions will be carried out, including the discourse to make Meikarta a subsidized apartment (rusun).

"It is scheduled that the KPK leadership will receive a meeting with the Minister of PKP and his staff. Among others, it will discuss the use of Meikarta land which is planned to be used for subsidized flats," said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to reporters through a written statement, Wednesday, January 21.

Budi said that risk mitigation would be carried out for the Minister of PKP's plan. "KPK of course supports this positive initiative," he said.

"This risk mitigation will be optimized through prevention and the coordination function of the KPK supervision," continued Budi. "So that the use of assets for the public welfare becomes more real and optimal."

The anti-corruption commission has ensured that there is no legal problem with Meikarta even though the bribery case related to the Meikarta development project has been handled. At that time, the Regent of Bekasi for the 2017-2022 period, Neneng Hasanah Yasin, was a victim.

Minister of Housing and Construction Maruarar Sirait previously confirmed that the plan to build subsidized apartment houses (rusun) in Meikarta, Cikarang, West Java, would begin this year. The intention was conveyed during the evaluation of the performance of the Ministry of Housing and Construction throughout 2025 at his office, Jakarta, Thursday, January 15.

"Mr. James (Lippo Group Boss James Riady) spoke to me directly with Mr. Hashim (Chairman of the Housing Task Force Hashim Djojohadikusumo) and Mr. President (Prabowo Subianto). The plan, this year will start a terraced house that will be built for the people in Meikarta," said Maruarar, who was also called Ara at that time.

Meikarta was chosen as one of the locations for the subsidized housing project because it has a very high level of housing needs. Especially for workers who are active in the Cikarang industrial area and its surroundings.
