DKI DPRD Supports Pramono Anung's Plan to Open the M Block Transjabodetabek Route - Soekarno-Hatta Airport
JAKARTA - Member of Commission B of the DKI Jakarta DPRD Ade Suherman expressed his support for the plan of the Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung to open the Transjabodetabek service on the Blok M-Soekarno Hatta Airport route.
The route is considered strategic to encourage the shift from using private vehicles to public transportation, especially for Jakarta's buffer residents.
Ade assessed that the opening of the route to the airport would strengthen the integration of public transportation services which are currently starting to be built from a number of areas around Jakarta. According to him, ease of access and affordability of fares are important factors for the public to switch to public transportation.
"This is part of the efforts of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, together with the DPRD, to encourage the shift in the mobility of residents from private vehicles to public transportation, especially for residents from outside Jakarta," Ade told reporters, Wednesday, January 21.
He said that currently public transportation services from Bogor are available. The addition of routes to Soekarno Hatta Airport is considered to complement the mobility needs of residents, especially for those who travel between regions and to the main transportation nodes.
"Providing affordable and integrated transportation modes is the key. Currently there is a service from Bogor, and if it is added to the airport it will certainly be very good. Hopefully, people will be more interested in using public transportation," he said.
In addition to opening new routes, Ade also emphasized the importance of supporting infrastructure support. He encouraged the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to prepare park and ride facilities so that people can leave their personal vehicles and continue their journey with public transportation.
"In the future, we also hope that the Provincial Government can provide adequate park and ride facilities, so that people can park their personal vehicles and continue their journey with public transportation," he said.
According to Ade, the integration of services does not only stop at the main routes. The presence of feeder transport or feeders from residential areas is also needed so that the public transportation system can really be used optimally.
He hopes that with an increasingly integrated transportation system, various classic Jakarta problems such as traffic jams and air pollution can be gradually suppressed, as the public's interest in using public transportation increases.
"With an integrated system, the target of reducing congestion, reducing air pollution, and realizing a more organized Jakarta is expected to be achieved," explained Ade.
Previously, the Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung revealed plans to open a number of new Transjabodetabek routes to meet the increasing need for cross-regional mobility. Two priority routes are Blok M - Soekarno Hatta Airport and Cawang - Jababeka.
According to Pramono, the Blok M-Airport route is an urgent need based on the Transportation Office's report. The high level of community activity to and from the airport is considered to require more integrated public transportation support.
"Regarding Transjabodetabek, we will indeed open new routes, the first of which is from Blok M to the airport. Because from the report of the Transportation Office, the need is now very high," said Pramono in Central Jakarta, Tuesday, January 20.
Then, the Cawang-Jababeka route that will be prepared by the DKI Provincial Government targets industrial areas with a large number of workers, especially in the Jababeka area, Bekasi Regency.
"Then from Cawang to Jababeka. Why is it done? Because our workers at Jababeka are quite high, and the needs are also high," said Pramono.
Currently, the DKI Provincial Government is only operating six Transjabodetabek routes, namely Alam Sutera-Block M, PIK2-Block M, Bogor-Block M, Sawangan-Lebak Bulus, Vida Bekasi-Cawang, and Bekasi-Dukuh Atas.
