Kia Niro Second Generation Gets Refresh, Cleaner and Modern Design
JAKARTA - After its debut in January 2022, Kia has redesigned the second generation Niro. This SUV, which has undergone a refresh, has eliminated some of the controversial design elements, but still retains most of its unique style.
Quoting from the Paultan website, Wednesday, January 21, from the front view shows a higher headlight that now transitions seamlessly to the grille, incorporating the latest "Star Map" daytime running lights from the Korean car manufacturer.
Meanwhile, the side rocker panel with a contrasting color now extends to the hexagonal lower grille and is better integrated into the front wheel arch trim.
Kia also seems to have removed the Niro's most striking feature - an optional contrasting color for the arrow-shaped C-pillar. The sleek vertical taillights have been trimmed, no longer reaching up to the roof and are equipped with black trim to visually enlarge them.
The lights are now also connected by a black strip, while further down, the indentation of the license plate has been pushed down to the bumper for a cleaner trunk door design.
The rear bumper and the silver-colored under guard plate that resembles a diffuser are also redesigned to provide a more unified look, and these overall changes are enhanced with new two-tone 18-inch alloy wheels.
In the interior, a similar massive refresh occurs. The new curved wide screen panel still houses two 12.3-inch screens for instrumentation and infotainment, which are located behind the steering wheel of Kia's latest two-spoke steering wheel.
Technical specifications have not been disclosed, but it is expected to have the same powertrain as before. This includes a 1.6-liter Smartstream G Hybrid naturally-aspirated 105 PS/144 Nm four-cylinder engine, combined with a 43 PS electric motor and a six-speed dual-clutch transmission for a total system output of 141 PS.
