The General Chair of the People's Movement Party, Sahrin Hamid, said that this declaration is part of an effort to present a political struggle tool that is in the interest of the people.

He said, the People's Movement Party was born from the collective spirit of members who came from various regions in Indonesia with the same determination.

The idea of forming this community organization has emerged since 2023, long before the 2024 presidential election took place. Volunteer leaders assess the need for a sustainable platform to gather, coordinate, and maintain the continuity of the ideas that have been pioneered together.

In November 2023, all volunteer elements who have a spirit of change agreed on a comprehensive consolidation step. This process is an important foundation that later gives birth to a community organization structure called the People's Movement.

The identity of the People's Movement is also reflected in the selection of orange or orange as the main symbol.

Chairman of the People's Movement Sahrin Hamid explained that the color represents optimism and hope to realize "Indonesia Menyala", namely a bright, just, and prosperous Indonesia. This slogan also emphasizes the attitude towards various social issues that previously emerged through the #IndonesiaGelap hashtag.

After one year as an organization, the People's Movement was then declared a political party. This decision was made at the national working meeting of the People's Movement held in Menteng, Central Jakarta, on January 17-18, 2026.

After declaring itself a political party, the People's Movement Party has a mission to support Anies Baswedan as the Candidate for President of the Republic of Indonesia in the 2029 Presidential Election.

It is worth noting that when the Rakyati Movement had the status of an NGO, Anies had a membership card (KTA). As the owner of KTA 001, Anies became a member of this NGO's honor.

"One thing we want Indonesia to be more just and prosperous, and the second thing we want is that our national leader will be Anies Rasyid Baswedan," said Sahrin at the People's Movement Party's declaration event.
