SLW-C4X Well Starts Operating, Pertamina EP Papua Field Production Reaches 2,020 BOPD

JAKARTA - PT Pertamina EP (PEP) Papua Field, which is under the management of Zona 14 Regional East Indonesia Subholding Upstream Pertamina, recorded positive achievements at the beginning of 2026 through the success of the Salawati SLW-C4X development well.

General Manager of Zone 14, Dadang Soewargono said, the well located in the Kais Formation, Sorong Regency, showed production performance that exceeded initial expectations and contributed significantly to increasing field production.

"The SLW-C4X well was invited on November 2, 2025 using the PDSI #11.2/N80B-M Rig," he said, Tuesday, January 20.

He added, the first production began flowing on December 15, 2025 with a capacity of 1,094 barrels of oil per day (BOPD). Since the beginning of onstream, the well performance has shown a consistent and sustainable improvement trend.

He explained that the impact of the SLW-C4X production was visible in the total production of the Papua Field PEP. On December 16, 2025, field production increased to 1,535 BOPD, then continued to grow to reach 1,800 BOPD on December 29, 2025.

"This positive trend continues until its peak on January 15, 2026, when field production successfully reached 2,007 BOPD," he continued.

Dadang added that production, which currently exceeds 2,000 barrels per day, is an early New Year's gift that is a source of pride for the Indonesian upstream industry, especially from the eastern Indonesian region.

Furthermore, Dadang emphasized that the oil and gas operations carried out still uphold the aspects of the environment, safety, and corporate governance. The application of the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles is consistently carried out through various strict programs, so that all operational activities run safely, safely, and in accordance with regulations.

"Not to forget, we appreciate SKK Migas, the Regional Government and the Indigenous People for their full support for the company's operational activities, so that positive achievements in increasing production can be achieved," said Dadang.

The success of SLW-C4X is the hope of Pertamina EP Papua Field in continuing the drilling of subsequent development wells, including the SLW-E6X well which is currently in the drilling phase.
